  • Working Hours: 30-40 hours a week, Monday-Friday
  • Weekends Off for optional independent day trips & activities.

About the Program

What Type of work to Expect

Business & Staff Managment

You will be joining a fully staffed organization, in which you will be involved in the daily tasks, and weekly goals for the month's projects and future events. You can expect to become integrated with the onsite staff and assist our project manager with new protocol training, policies and procedures for upcoming retreats and events.

Cowboy & Ranch Management

You'll undergo thorough training to become an authentic cowboy. Every day, you'll ride out alongside seasoned cowhands, guiding water buffalo through diverse terrain to prime grazing locations. Depending on your field of study the internship may take you into our Bufflao beef or Buffalo Milk production. You may also master the art of horse care and tack maintenance, while also gaining insight into ranch management and the business aspects of the operation!

Marketing/Sales

You will be fully involved in the process of marketing for our future events and retreats. It will involve the use of your personal laptop, use of company cameras, video and drone equipment. You can expect to assist in the curation of organic content, editing process and development of paid advertisement and event listings to broadcast to various audiences for successful retreat and event bookings. You may also gain experience networking and creating organic leads.

Hands-On Artistry

We are now introducing a new program, recruiting artist such as painters, artisans, craftsmen etc. We are looking for creative artists to join this special program. The Mayan Garden has a goal of building more personal and meaningful connections by means of art. You will be working with our Facility director fulfilling room designs such as canvas paintings, wall art such as macrame, painted wall murals, innoavtive means of working with local materials in order to create art pieces within social and living spaces of the retreat center. We want your artist minds at hand!

Maintenance & Rennovations

The Maintenance & Renovations department is responsible for a range of tasks aimed at enhancing and preserving the property’s quality and functionality. This includes painting and refinishing surfaces, conducting cement and masonry work for repairs and improvements, plumbing to maintain and fix water systems, and electrical work to ensure safe and efficient lighting and power access. The team also handles general upkeep, debris removal, and support for renovation projects, ensuring all spaces are well-maintained, functional, and aesthetically pleasing. This department plays a vital role in keeping the property in top condition and ready for ongoing use and future enhancements.

Housekeeping & Gardeing

As a volunteer in the Housekeeping & Gardening Department, you will support the daily upkeep and beautification of the property. Responsibilities may include cleaning guest rooms and common areas, changing linens, sweeping and mopping floors, organizing supplies, watering plants, weeding, raking leaves, and helping to maintain gardens and green spaces. This department plays a vital role in creating a clean, welcoming, and peaceful environment for all residents and guests. Volunteers should be prepared to work both indoors and outdoors, follow hygiene and safety protocols, and take pride in contributing to the care of the space..

Animal Care – Dogs & Maintenance

Volunteers in the Animal Care department help ensure the well-being, cleanliness, and happiness of our resident dogs. Tasks include feeding, providing fresh water, brushing, walking, bathing when necessary, and giving general affection and attention. You will also assist in cleaning and maintaining their living spaces—this includes removing waste, washing bedding, sweeping, mopping, and making sure the area is safe and comfortable. Volunteers should be comfortable around animals, observant of their health and behavior, and willing to get hands-on in both caretaking and cleaning duties. Your care helps keep our dogs healthy and loved in a clean, nurturing environment.

Guest Services & Security

As a volunteer in Guest Services & Security, your role is to help ensure a smooth, welcoming, and secure environment for all guests and residents. Guest Services: You’ll assist with greeting and orienting guests upon arrival, helping with check-ins and check-outs, answering basic questions, and supporting the overall guest experience. You may also help prepare rooms or assist during special events. A friendly and professional attitude is key. Security: Your main responsibility is managing the front gate—opening and closing it as needed and maintaining a detailed log of all entries and exits. This includes noting the time, name, and purpose of each visitor. Volunteers must be punctual, alert, and respectful when interacting with both guests and staff. This role requires reliability, good communication, and a calm, welcoming presence while ensuring the safety and comfort of everyone on the property.
